Short answer: 200 MB per email account on all shared hosting. The total shared across every mailbox on the account depends on your package: 1 GB on Basic, 2 GB on Standard, 3 GB on Advanced. E-commerce and VPS packages are based on the VPS specification — the smallest has 50 GB covering email, databases and files. Need more? Email [email protected].
Applies to: Infosaic shared web hosting · e-commerce and VPS packages
There are two numbers to keep in mind, and they work together: a per-mailbox limit, and a total for the whole account.
The per-mailbox limit is 200 MB on every shared hosting package. The total is the pool all the mailboxes draw from, and that is what varies by package.
Neither number tends to be a problem for people who download their mail. It becomes a problem for people who leave everything on the server indefinitely.
The allowances

- Basic Hosting — 1 GB in total, aggregated across all email accounts under the package.
- Standard Hosting — 2 GB in total.
- Advanced Hosting — 3 GB in total.
- E-commerce and VPS Hosting — based on the specification of the VPS. The minimum VPS has 50 GB covering email, databases and site files.
The 200 MB per-account limit applies on all shared hosting. Aggregated means exactly that: ten mailboxes on a Standard package share 2 GB between them, not 2 GB each.
Downloading your mail solves the problem

If you download your email to a mail program on your own computer — Outlook, Thunderbird or any other — you will not have any issues with going over your disk space quota. The messages move to your machine and stop counting against the server allowance.
That is the recommended arrangement for anyone whose mailbox grows steadily: read and keep mail locally, and let the server hold only what is in transit.
If you would rather leave everything on the server so that it is available from several devices, you are using IMAP, and the quota matters more. In that case, keeping the Sent and Deleted folders trimmed makes most of the difference — they are almost always the largest.
Attachments are what fill mailboxes, not messages. A few hundred emails take almost no space. A handful of presentations and photo sets take all of it. If you are near the limit, sort by size rather than by date.
If you need more space

For additional space on an existing account, email [email protected] and tell us which mailbox and roughly how much you need.
If your requirements are larger — a company that needs substantial mail storage rather than a bit more headroom — contact sales. We have solutions designed for businesses that need their own mail server with significant disk space, and a VPS or dedicated hosting package with its own mail system is usually the right answer.
Upgrading the hosting package also raises the total allowance, which is worth considering if you are running several mailboxes on Basic.
If a mailbox is full
- Incoming mail stops. Senders get a bounce, so at least the problem is visible.
- Empty Deleted Items and Junk first. This alone usually clears it.
- Then look at Sent. It holds every attachment you have ever sent and nobody ever empties it.
- Then sort by size and remove the largest few messages.
- Then set up a mail program to download, so it does not happen again.
If you cannot get into the mailbox at all to clear it, open a ticket and we will free enough space for you to sign in.
Questions and answers
How much space does each email account get?
200 MB per account on all shared hosting packages.
What is the total email space for my account?
1 GB on Basic Hosting, 2 GB on Standard, 3 GB on Advanced, aggregated across all mailboxes. VPS packages depend on the VPS specification.
Is the allowance per mailbox or shared?
Both. Each mailbox is capped at 200 MB, and all mailboxes share the package total.
How do I avoid running out of space?
Download your mail to a program such as Outlook or Thunderbird. Messages then live on your computer rather than counting against the server quota.
How much space does a VPS get for email?
It depends on the specification. The minimum VPS has 50 GB covering email, databases and site files.
How do I get more space?
Email [email protected]. For substantially more, contact sales about a VPS or dedicated solution with its own mail server.
What happens when a mailbox is full?
Incoming mail is rejected and senders receive a bounce message.
Which folders should I clear first?
Deleted Items and Junk, then Sent, which usually holds the largest attachments.
