Short answer: Full webmail from any browser, spam and content filtering at both domain and individual level, auto-responders, an online address book, spell checking and folder auto-clean. Whoever administers the domain also gets mailing lists, domain aliases, catch-all addresses, per-user statistics and bandwidth reporting — all through the browser, from anywhere.
Applies to: Infosaic web hosting email · mailbox users and domain administrators
Most people use two features of their mail service and never discover the rest. This is the short tour, split by who it is for: things that help you as a mailbox user, and things that help whoever looks after the domain.
Everything here is browser-based, which is the point worth holding on to. Neither you nor your administrator has to be at a particular computer to change anything.
For everyday mailbox users

- Webmail from any browser, at webmail.infosaic.com — check your mail from any computer, at any time, without setting anything up.
- Spam filtering using Bayesian filtering and SPF, controllable at your own level as well as the domain’s.
- Content filtering, so messages matching rules you define are sorted, moved or discarded automatically.
- Auto-responders for holidays and staff changes.
- An online address book, available wherever you sign in.
- Spell checking in several languages, and support for foreign character sets when composing and reading.
- A drafts folder, so a half-written message survives being interrupted.
- Folder auto-clean, which keeps folders from growing without limit — useful on Sent and Deleted, which are what usually fill a mailbox.
- A multi-language webmail interface.
If you would rather use Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone’s built-in app than the browser, all of it works over POP3 and IMAP too.
For whoever administers the domain

- Domain-wide spam defaults, so new mailboxes start with sensible settings instead of each user configuring their own.
- Mailing lists, with optional digest mode for people who would rather have one message a day than twenty.
- Per-user statistics, which answer questions about who is actually using what.
- Domain aliasing, so mail to a second domain lands in the same mailboxes.
- Catch-all aliases, which collect anything sent to an address that does not exist.
- Bandwidth tracking, so mail usage can be seen alongside everything else.
- Adding and removing mailboxes, and configuring settings for the domain as a whole.
Because it is all browser-based, none of this requires access to a particular machine — which matters when the person who set the domain up is not the person maintaining it three years later.
Catch-all addresses are a mixed blessing. They stop mail to a mistyped address bouncing, but they also collect every spam message sent to every guessed name on your domain. Use them deliberately, and check the mailbox they feed.
